Artist Statement: This passion project was based on urbanization in Portland and how it has affected the people living there. I love cities and urban areas, but I think it is important to look at different perspectives. I admire artistic urban spaces and symmetrical lines that are in cities. The people of Portland care about the environment and keeping it clean. However with these positives some people accuse Portland of becoming gentrified, this gentrification causes homelessness and poverty. One thing I noticed that was as I took photographs of the urban landscape was people became invisible in the spaces they created. I wonder where the future will take us. What do you think of our changing city?
Music, Vinyl, and CDs
Artist Statement: Recently during quarantine I have developed an appreciation for physical forms of music. I have my own record player and a decent collection of vinyl records that come in all sorts of colors and some CD’s. I’m choosing to tell this story because music is something that has been bringing me happiness over quarantine. I've discovered more music in the past couple months than I have in my whole life. In the first picture you will see my turntable setup I have in my room, with a little shelf to display some of my favorite records. Here is where I listen to most of my music. In the second slide you will see my CD player with my favorite album beside it. The next three slides are my favorite records I own, I love the various color pressings they come in which is a nice change from the classic black pressing. The sixth photo is my favorite box set I have laid out so you can see all the contents inside it. The seventh photo is an arial view of my turntable so you can see how it works. Lastly I have a close up shot of the turntable in action.
